Awards flow for Bethany Wines

October-09-13

Bethany Wines is thrilled to announce an epic performance at the 2013 Decanter World Wine Awards in London.

Expert judges awarded Bethany Wines eight prestigious accolades after tasting their way through nearly 15,000 wines from around the world.

Bethany Wines’ 2008 LE Reserve Shiraz scored the highest with a Silver Medal, while its 2010 g6 Shiraz received a Bronze Medal along with the 2009 Shiraz and the 2012 Eden Valley Riesling.

Bethany Wines also scooped Commended privileges for its 2011 Semillon, 2011 Chardonnay, 2010 Old Vine Grenache and its 2009 Cabernet Merlot.

Now in its 10th year, the Decanter World Wine Awards is considered the world’s leading wine competition, with respected wine critics providing thorough recommendations for consumers and advanced enthusiasts, alike.

Bethany Wines director Geoff Schrapel said it he was very excited with the results.

“I’m very proud to see that we’re being recognised by our peers in the industry,” Geoff said.

“The awards are also testament of the hard work and dedication our winemaking team put in every year to produce wines of the best quality possible.”

The Decanter awards are the latest accolades for Bethany, which has earned itself a number of international awards over the past year, including a Silver Medal for the 2008 LE Reserve Shiraz at the 2013 Wine 100 Challenge, in Shanghai.

This year’s Decanter World Wine Awards was judged by a panel of more than 200 wine merchants, sommeliers, journalists and authors from 27 countries, including 75 Masters of Wine and 13 Master Sommeliers.

Wines were tasted blind within their region of origin and price bracket to ensure that an expression of terroir was taken into account, and wines were compared like for like.
