Halliday gives new Bethany Riesling glowing review and score

Australia’s leading wine critic James Halliday has given the Bethany 2013 Eden Valley Riesling a 94-point rating along with a gold-plated review.

The 94-point rating sits in Halliday’s 94-100 point category, which considers wines to be “outstanding and of the highest quality, often with a distinguished pedigree”.

The 94-point rating was complemented with Halliday’s review:

“A vibrantly crisp and precise Riesling, with lemon zest and lemon juice aromas and flavours on the long and precise palate. A gold-plated cellaring proposition.”

Made from premium grapes grown in South Australia’s pristine Eden Valley, the 2013 Eden Valley Riesling boasts an enticing pale gold colour and varietal aromas.

This classic Riesling goes well with white meat and seafood dishes. While in its youth, the fresh mouth feel and crisp acidic finish makes it the ideal partner for natural oysters.

Eden Valley - a stunning cool climate

Eden Valley is a cool climate nestled between 400 and 600 metres above sea level and is part of the Barossa and Mount Lofty Ranges. It is rough, rocky country that belies its ability to produce wines of great delicacy and finesse. The region’s longer ripening periods are also perfect for flavour intensity.

2013 Vintage - a near-perfect vintage

The 2013 Eden Valley vintage was outstanding, particularly for Riesling which ripened slowly and steadily in moderate conditions. Our Eden Valley Riesling was picked nearly two weeks after the usual Bethany harvest in the Barossa, intensifying natural acidity and varietal flavours.
